There’s no denying that H.I.D. lights are becoming increasingly popular in the vehicle sector. If you ask most people who drive high-end vehicles, you will find that it is on their list of items to purchase. These kits are becoming increasingly well-known in their field since they balance fashionableness and security.
However, most motorists wonder how simple it is to install HID lights. It’s as simple as swapping out the bulb on a moderately complex and high-tech flashlight. All you need is a modicum of common sense, a pair of functional hands, the HID kit’s included instruction manual, and some occasional trial and error.
Ensure the personnel is in their holes before beginning the HID lighting installation. This will reduce the likelihood of any assembly-related mistakes, as screws that go in at an angle are far more difficult to turn and insert afterward. You may avoid having these issues mar your day by immediately installing them in their housing.
After the screws are in place, you may install your HID lights by disconnecting the negative line from the battery. To access the headlamp, you must remove the top cover and physically position the door to the halfway open position. Raise the manual override knob in the lower left-hand corner of each headlight to access the bezels and top cover. After that, using a 10mm socket and ratchet, take apart the headlight and score the aluminum housing with a sharp razor blade. When the headlight assembly is no longer in the way, you can cut the aluminum housing for the bulb using a razor blade. You must first remove the scored ribs to fit the new HID headlamp assembly.
The next step is to cut off your aluminum rib. After finishing the first headlight bucket, tighten the vise grips on the metal to ensure clean cuts. If the aluminum doesn’t crack on the first try, give it another go with the razor knife. After that, screw the ballast down firmly and secure it to the inside fender using double-sided tape. If you ever need to change your ballast, you won’t want to lose track of the serial number on the back. Check that the headlight component can be installed without rubbing against the snipped aluminum struts.
Reach around the sides of the headlamp bucket to insert the screws afterward. To avoid paint scratches on the headlight housing from dropped objects, pad the area around the hood and fenders with some soft rags or blankets.
The screws needed to secure the ballast to the inner fender can now be fastened. The inner fender is fragile and easily damaged, so exercise caution when screwing it in. After you’ve put in all the screws, you should tighten them down. Take special care with this step, too. The plastic mounting ears are vulnerable to being sliced off by the screws.
The battery guard and coolant reservoir must now be undone so the wire may be fed under the battery tray. The battery cover removes quickly and effortlessly. To remove the plastic pushpin, press it along the edge of the windshield and pull. Then, use tie-wraps to secure the cross-wire harness. If you leave the hood unlatched, the wiring can be nicked, so be cautious in that area.
When you’re finished, hook up the wires to the ballast. Ensure the red wire from the battery and the black wire from the ground supply go inside, adjacent to the inner fender, and out to the ballast.
Connect the wires by crimping their terminals. After that, attach the battery terminal to the panel’s stud and tighten the terminal nuts. Carefully reconnect the terminals and replace the plastic cover.
Carefully reconnect the screws and then tighten them. After the screws have been secured, the headlights must be turned down by hand to their proper position. It can be jiggled to see if it is in the right spot. When it starts to jiggle, you know it’s time to readjust it.
Take off the coolant tank and snake the wires under there. Taking the coolant hoses off is unnecessary when the screws are already out of the way. The negative battery cable and the remaining wiring connections at the frame ground stud are still unconnected. Here, the black wires are linked, and the battery guard you removed before can be replaced.
Be sure to double-check the company’s directions before proceeding with the wiring. Some of the wires in the connectors for the headlights may be missing. Calm down. In most items, this is to be expected. Additionally, remembering to connect the single wires and shoving the included boot can help prevent shorting. When opening and shutting the headlamp, grab it with a tie-wrap so it doesn’t get in the way.
So there you go. Putting in HID lights isn’t a complicated process. If you follow these instructions, you’ll soon be basking in the glow of your newly installed car lights.
